15^th Annual CB GROUP UWI 5K & Run With Passion Kids K

THEME FOR THE EVENT: Running for Dreams

WHY IS THIS EVENT HELD EVERY YEAR: The CB Group UWI 5K & Run With Passion Kids K continues its mission of raising funds to provide scholarships for academically outstanding students, while supporting the development of sport at The UWI and Jamaica’s national sporting programme. Notably, many of the scholarship recipients pursuing degrees at The UWI have gone on to represent Jamaica at the national level in various sporting disciplines, demonstrating the powerful synergy between academic excellence and sporting achievement. Since the inaugural staging of the event, more than 350 scholarships have been awarded, helping deserving students to pursue their academic aspirations and realise their full potential at The UWI.

HOW MANY STUDENTS HAVE BENEFITTED TO DATE: Over 350 scholarships have been awarded. Many of them are the first in their families and communities to attend university.

GENESIS OF THE EVENT: Started in 2012 as an initiative of Grand Jamaica Homecoming which started in Canada in celebration of Jamaica’s 50^th anniversary. The Patrons of Grand Jamaica Homecoming were the late Dr. Honourable G. Raymond Chang, OC, OJ, Dr. Honourable Michael Lee-Chin, OJ, Chairs: Dr. Donette Chin-Loy Chang, Toni Spooner, Elizabeth Buchanan-Hind and Dr. the Honourable Douglas Orane as Chairman of the Advisory Committee in Jamaica. The event was created to mobilize Jamaicans and Canadians to visit Jamaica and for corporate Canada to invest in Jamaica.

HOW TO REGISTER: Individuals and teams must register and pay online using a debit or credit card at www.runningeventsja.com.

Open to all individuals and teams – corporate, clubs, church groups, and family teams.

The deadline is Wednesday, November 18, 2026, or upon achieving the event limit, whichever comes first. THERE IS NO RACE DAYREGISTRATION. 

COST TO REGISTER:

$ 2,000 per adult 

$1,500 per person (Adult Group Rate for 25 or more people)

$1,000 – students with ID

$500 – Run With Passion Kids K

Entries are neither refundable nor transferable, and name changes are not allowed.

WHEN WILL THE WINNERS BE ANNOUNCED: Results will be released directly after the race.

PRIZES AND MEDALS: Winners will receive prizes and gifts in various categories. All participants in the Kids K will receive medals.

Package Pick Up

Race packets must be collected before race day from the Institutional Advancement Division (IAD) at the UWI Regional Headquarters on Thursday - Friday, November 19 - 20 between 11:00 am to 4:00 pm each day or on Saturday, November 21 between 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. THERE IS NO NUMBER PICK-UP ON RACE DAY.
